6-Year-Old Brain Cancer Survivor Allegedly Attacked by ‘Dangerous’ Stepdad in Horrific Stabbing

A special education teacher in Louisiana allegedly committed a horrific act of violence against his young 6-year-old stepson, a cancer survivor. Deputies from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived at a home in Leonville about 6 a.m. June 1, 2025, after receiving a call about a domestic dispute. Inside, they found young Korbin Price with multiple stab wounds to his face, neck, and chest. Emergency responders took him to an area hospital for treatment.

Police ultimately arrested the child’s stepfather, 37-year-old Patrick Seth Greene. Now, he’s facing multiple charges and a sentence of life in prison if convicted.

Per a statement from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, EMS transported Korbin to Opelousas General Hospital. Staff then arranged for a helicopter to airlift him to Baton Rouge for further treatment. When attempting to arrest Greene, he was allegedly combative, but authorities ultimately took him into custody.

“Our Juvenile Detectives are actively investigating this incident and will be filing additional charges. Our profound sympathies are with the family and our prayers are for the young child,” Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz shared in a statement, per WBRZ.

Greene initially faced charges of domestic abuse with child endangerment, two counts of aggravated assault, and resisting an officer. Those charges were quickly upgraded, and now he also faces eight counts of first-degree attempted murder, KADN reported. Per Louisiana law, he could go to prison for the rest of his life.

Korbin’s grandmother, Norma Modglin, shared more of the 6-year-old boy’s incredible story with KATC.

“It’s very important that everyone realizes Korbin is a cancer patient,” she said. “He was diagnosed with a massive brain tumor that was so deep, when it was removed, he lost all mobility on the left side of his body. He could not walk.”

Korbin’s grandfather, Hal Modglin, called Greene “dangerous.”

“We don’t know what made him snap at this time,” Hal Modglin told KATC. “But I’m sure it will come out during trial. This will affect their lives forever. We are here to make sure they get justice.”

Korbin’s family created the Facebook page Korbins Journey in 2022 for loved ones to follow his cancer treatment. Now, they are sharing updates on his current fight.

“Update on Korbin – he’s had another decent day. Had a brain & neck MRI this morning. Neck was completely cleared so they were able to remove the c-collar. The brain showed no worsening bit unfortunately not any better, either. It’s still just a waiting game at this time,” Korbin’s father Joshua Price posted.

“There has been some misinformation floating around that I want to clarify. Right now, he does not have any clots in his lungs. He did have a brain tumor that was removed back in 2022. He currently does not have one though he still goes to St. Judes for follow up work and remains in physical therapy,” he added. “There has been such an outpouring of love from so many people. I apologize if I don’t get back to everyone. Thanks again for everything.”

Korbin’s family created a GoFundMe account to help with medical expenses. Thus far, they’ve raised more than $25,000 of a $30,000 goal.

Per KATC, Greene was due in court on June 5, but the hearing has been delayed until July 3. Until then, he remains in jail without bond and the judge has put a gag order on the case in hopes of keeping the trial in St. Landry Parish.
